St Columbas
Church
A series of projects has been
completed at St Columbas United Reformed Church,
Downing Place, Cambridge, during the last fifteen
years. The work has included improvements
to the Church interior, with full re-decoration
and new lighting, repairs to the fabric of the
building as well as alterations and extensions
to the Church Halls.
The Church has a number
of areas which are sub-let and used for a variety
of community activities. These spaces include
3 halls of varying sizes. Refurbishment of all
these areas has been completed, together with
improved arrangements for access, and the addition
of a glazed link and conservatory room, opening
on to a landscaped courtyard garden. The projects
have been of considerable benefit to the Church
and community.
Throughout
this time, the Architects have worked closely
with the Church and relevant committees to reach
agreement on the detail of the proposals, including
presentations where appropriate. Efforts have
been made to include involvement from skilled
craftsmen and artists, which have resulted in
bespoke gates to the entrance court, and proposals
from the David Kindersley workshop for stone
lettering on the principle elevations. |
